Pitman, NJ
Established in 1871 as a Methodist summer camp meeting place, Pitman has become the embodiment of an American small town. I went to Pitman to tell the history of the town and its people in photos. Lifelong Pitman resident and Councilwoman Debra Higbee showed me the Pitman History Museum before giving me a tour of historic places. She showed me the first residential house, the first firehouse, the first bank, the iconic Dutch windmill, the camp meeting auditorium and Pitman Grove, while introducing me to townspeople and owners of historic places.
